Initial eligibility for newly initiated union members: You and your eligible dependent(s) become eligible for coverage under the Fund on the first day of the month after the month in which $1,350 in participating employer contributions are received on your behalf in 12 consecutive months
Initial eligibility for all other members: You and your eligible dependent(s) become eligible for coverage under the Fund on the first day of the month after the month in which $4,050 in participating employer contributions are received on your behalf in 12 consecutive months
Participating employer contributions made for you are held in an administrative Account
On the last business day of each calendar quarter, $4,050 is deducted from your Administrative Account and, if necessary, withdrawn from your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), to maintain your eligibility for the next calendar quarter
There are four coverage period calendar quarters:
January – March
April – June
July – September
October – December
Eligibility Example
For initial eligibility only, during January 1 – May 31, the Fund receives $5,000 in contributions from your employer made on your behalf
As of June 1, you are eligible for June, July and August coverage; $950 will be held in your Administrative Account to be applied to the next eligibility period
