Highlights

  • Initial eligibility for newly initiated union members: You and your eligible dependent(s) become eligible for coverage under the Fund on the first day of the month after the month in which $1,350 in participating employer contributions are received on your behalf in 12 consecutive months
  • Initial eligibility for all other members: You and your eligible dependent(s) become eligible for coverage under the Fund on the first day of the month after the month in which $4,050 in participating employer contributions are received on your behalf in 12 consecutive months
  • Participating employer contributions made for you are held in an administrative Account
  • On the last business day of each calendar quarter, $4,050 is deducted from your Administrative Account and, if necessary, withdrawn from your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), to maintain your eligibility for the next calendar quarter
  • There are four coverage period calendar quarters:
    • January – March
    • April – June
    • July – September
    • October – December
  • Eligibility Example
    • For initial eligibility only, during January 1 – May 31, the Fund receives $5,000 in contributions from your employer made on your behalf
    • As of June 1, you are eligible for June, July and August coverage; $950 will be held in your Administrative Account to be applied to the next eligibility period
